The Bluegill
What makes the bluegill Americas #1 Favorite fish to catch? There are a lot of good reasons for this title. First of all these fish are plentiful, if you live near a pond or a lake chances are you have these fish available right in your neighborhood. The bluegill is also know to be very susceptible to lures and a variety of baits. You can choose to use small lures and jigs, go flyfishing for bluegill or simply stop by a local gas station and pick up a container of worms. There are absolutely no fish that are easier to catch, not to mention they fight really hard for their size. I recently found a website called Bluegillfishing.us and it reinvigorated my love for bluegill fishing that I used to spend so much time doing. It motivated me enough to come here and start my own website about this fantastic fish. The bluegill might be small, but they pack a lot of power into their small bodies.
Bluegill changed my life
I grew up in a small town in Ohio, living in an area full of small ponds and even ditches running throughout my neighborhood, I could be found almost every single day out there fishing, from the time I was old enough to ride a bike till right around the time I graduated from high school. Had I not spent so much time catching and fishing for these fine specimens there is literally no telling how my life could be different.
Teaching kids to fish with this species
Chances are you know a child somewhere who is dying to get out and catch some fish, or maybe they have never done it before; either way, there is no better fish to teach kids to fish than bluegills. When was the last time you went fishing for panfish and didn't catch any? Probably almost never. The number one way to keep kids interested in this sport, is to show them a good time the first time they pick up a fishing rod. They want action and they want it steady - otherwise they might get bored; we can't have that! Teach them with bluegill for fast and furious action that will likely change their lives forever.
What I recommend to you is this: Go buy a couple lures or even a packet of nightcrawlers and go out there and hook some of these critters. Instead of spending your time playing video games or watching TV you should be out enjoying nature. A week from now you won't remember what happened in that video game, but 20 years from now you will probably remember that spur of the moment bluegill fishing trip you decided to take.
